Gibson’s Covered Bridge (1872) – Part 1

Gibson’s – Harmony Hill Covered Bridge (1872)

Downingtown, Chester County – [38-15-10]

After I finally got to the bridge, it started to rain, so I was confined to shooting inside the bridge.

Tried to scout for future shoots, and did see several, but the weeds are so over grown at this point, it is not worth the effort.

Lightroom 3 – First Look

Lightroom 3 has been out for about a month now, after being having many of it core components rewritten from the ground up over the past two years, and it shows.

In general, the application is quicker at most common tasks, and can greatly hence most images that it comes in contact with.

Already, I have been able to breath new life in several images because of the enhanced noise reduction algorithms, on images that were shoot with a high ISO speed!

Another area that I have been really taken advantage of, is the built in Publishing Service for Flickr.

In the previous version, one would have to export the desired files, and then bring them into Flickr.

With LR3, after you have connected to Flickr, you just export!

There is no need to create an additional set of files, which saves time and disk space!

Over the course of the long weekend, I have been able to publish many new images to Flickr with great easy, and I invite you to take a look at my Photostream!

There are a ton of new features that have been added or enhanced, and I plan on using and commenting in the future, so stay tuned!

Flickr Pro – Finally!

Back in September of 2009, I joined Flickr.com, and started to upload some of my photographic work.

At first, visits to my “Photostream” were slow as I began to figure things out, but with some encouragement of Friends, I began to add more images.

Then, today, after having spent the afternoon with Family down at the Downingtown Good Neighbor Day, I decided to take my Flickr account to the next level.

So here begins the next adventure of my digital life!

College Graduation Picture (circa 1920s)

This was an image of a mother of two boys.

The younger brother contacted me, and asked me to restore this original studio photography of this mother, from the 1920s.

It was to be a 75th Birthday present for his older brother.

After correcting all the scratches, I added a sepia tint to the background.

If you are interesting in getting your own photos restored, please feel free to contact me for a free consultation and quote.

2010 Devon Horse Show

It has been a number of years since the last time that I had a chance to go to the Devon Horse Show, and this year was extra special.

This year, I was able to bring my daughter to the spectacle!

Being 6 years old, she is the prime age for seeing a live world class horse show event, and even better, it is right in our back yard! And on a Friday night!

So, we headed off on another one of our famous “Daddy Dates”…

Trying to find Parking was fun, and it seems the local entrepreneurial home owners are no longer doing the “Park on my Lawn” for $5.00 any more.

Finding a good spot is always a good sign the person/car is local…

The walk to the show was hot and humid, and there was much thought that it was going to rain.

Once inside, the show was packed, the 7pm shows were just starting.

We walked around the main ring, moving in and out of the armies of teenagers just “hanging out”, and a glimpse into my daughters future.

We finally found a great spot, and settled in for the “Open Jumper-Gambler’s Choice” event, right next to the “Joker’s jump”.

There were 10 jumpers, and my daughter watched in amazement.

(You can see more images in the “Events” section under the Photography tab, or on Facebook.com and Flick.com)

After the jumpers where finished, we walked around the grounds some more, watched the fancy carriages warm up, and then wondered through the games and onto a pizza dinner with some ice cream for desert.

When we finally got home, I was very surprised that my daughter had not fallen asleep, but once inside, it did not take long.

Another successful “Daddy Date”!

Update

I am happy to announce that this image won first place on Flickr’s “Women At The Reins“!
